Car Makes U-Turn, Killing Motorcyclist

A motorcyclist was killed when the motorcycle he was riding hit a vehicle that was in the midst of making a U-turn in front of him. He was 36-years-old. The accident occurred on a road in Oceanside, CA, on Thursday, February 3rd, and was reported at about 5:40 p.m.
The crash took place when the operator of the sedan made a U-turn in front of the motorcycle on El Camino Real close to Basel Street. The motorcyclist hit the sedan on the passenger side, causing him to be ejected from the motorcycle. When police officers arrived, they noticed that he was not breathing. He was transported to a hospital, where he died shortly afterward.
The biker’s name was not revealed because his family was not yet notified. A passenger in the sedan sustained minor injuries in the collision, and was carried to a hospital for treatment. According to Oceanside police Lt. Daniel Sullivan, the operator of the sedan was questioned at the scene and released. Intoxication was not considered to have been a contributing factor in causing the accident. Police have begun an investigation into the cause of the accident.
Motorcycle accidents are often the result of another vehicle making a U-turn and then colliding with a motorcycle. They motorists often fail to notice the motorcyclist, and therefore, neglect to reduce their speed. The end result is frequently a motorcyclist who is severely, or fatally, injured.
