Motorcycle Accident Law
When a motorcyclist is injured in an accident caused by another party’s actions or negligence, the injured may file a motorcycle accident lawsuit and, potentially, obtain damages for his or her injuries. State motorcycle accident laws determine who may sue for damages, what parties may be held liable for the motorcyclist’s injuries, the process of filing suit, and additional matters.
Types of Injuries
A motorcycle accident can cause a range of injuries, ranging in severity from broken bones and “road rash” to serious injury – back, burn, spinal cord, and brain injury – and even motorcycle accident death. The severity of a victim’s injury depends on several factors, including the speed at which he or she was travelling, the object with which he or she collided, and whether or not he or she was wearing a helmet.
Motorcycle Accident Compensation
If a motorcycle accident victim can prove that another party was at least partially at fault for his or her injuries, he or she may be able to obtain a motorcycle accident settlement. The settlement may include compensation for the victim’s medical expenses related to the accident, lost income, decreased earning potential, the cost of maintaining his or her household during recovery, diminished enjoyment of life, and additional losses.
